I was in first myself when I first heard this book - and it was THE first book I bought when I found I was expecting my son. Of course, my pregnancy hormones made me a puddle of goo trying to read it - lol!

Reading this is like reading my own thoughts...

I am about ready to wean my almost 5 month old son (I have to go back to work when he is 7 months) and I never thought I would miss those 4:30 am feedings. I find myself trying to commit his face lit by the nightlight to memory. And nothing beats when the little darling pops off the breast and looks up at my face - a little dopey and perplexed at first - and then gives me a wide, gummy grin!

I love your blog. I heard about in the MTA Record - being an alumn myself. Thanks so much for sharing your adventures - they are beyond touching in a way a fellow-first-time-mother understands...

And by the way, I tried to read "Guess How Much I Love You." to my son, Isaac, the other day and couldn't even get halfway through it!

This book is one of, no, my favorite childrens book. I heard it for the first time when I was 7 and story time was on the ASN channel. I vowed to myself then, that if I had kids, it would be the first book I bought. 10 years later I found out about Geoffrey, and it was the first book I bought, 10 years after that (ie, today) he still has the refrain and some of the pages committed to memory, and I've begun to share the story with Kieran and Seth, along with the secret of the cat that Geoffrey showed me.

It's truly lovely, and even more lovely, the story is true. Although Geoffrey is now a 5 foot tall 10 year old, he's still my baby, Even though I missed out on the baby years with Seth, and only got to see Kieran's first year as a friend, they're still my babies, and every milestone they hit I watch with a fierce mix of pride and sorrow. Why? I'm so proud of the young men that they are becoming, and I'm so sad that I'm losing the little guys that needed me.

I wouldn't be so surprised to see myself hobbling across town to crawl up the ladder into their rooms to get just one more cuddle...It's going to be so hard and so rewarding to see them all grown up

As a mom who went back full time when ds was 7 1/2 weeks old, I will tell you it isn't easy. I had more embarrasing moments from leaking :) than I did splotches from the boy, but maybe that is because I make enough splotches on my own. You just have to figure out a routine for the two (three!) of you that works. S & I still come home and I re-pack his bag, lay out my clothes & empty my lunch bag while he plays or reads his books. I get up very early to have some me time (i.e. shower!), but it works for us. You will be just fine, and heck you might even be better for going back.

I truly enjoy how you write -- and hope that if you ever publish a book, you will let me know.

I have never had a child -- probably never will -- but I am enjoying that you are sharing yours and the little mom moments that are so precious and caught in text by so few.

you have a gift and I am glad you are sharing........both your words and your child.

Enjoy your day
