You just hit first blood?! Man, what I wouldn't give to have made it as far as you all have. Can we talk about constant bruising on the legs once he started getting around (that's crawling, not walking & he still has the issue)? I can't even remember what his first blood related accident was, but I tell you beware of much more in the daredevil future. :)

OH! That just brings back horrible memories of the days when a trip to the doctor necessitated treatments that brought pain and tears. And...thank you so much for the thinking blogger award. I'm truly honored.

We drew first blood recently too, Ant was sitting up and toppled over onto his face. One of the drawbacks of early teeth! I felt much better when A) no more blood was forthcoming, and B) he quit crying in about two minutes. Still a heart-wrencher though!

Oh God! I hear you! Constantly tempted to break out the bubble wrap. What if I got him a COOL helmet in, say, camo?
~sigh~ Just imagine when they can drive...

You know Bon, I hate to tell you, but it only gets worse. Imagine that little body careening round a corner at a million miles an hour! It's scary and the falls are faster, more furious and 'ma-ni ma-ni'!! Sorry dude. (But also imagine the joy and pride in watching that same body careening around said corner!)

Oh I have so been there. K's first "big" wipeout involved the side of the coffee table, an inch cut on his forehead and the bloody mouth/fat lip.
It happened on my watch, too, so I felt like Mother of the Year (not).

K got better at it and I'm sure that O will too.

I am sure fear rushed through your body when you saw that blood coming out of Oscar's mouth. Mothers have such a strong desire to protect their babies.

I'll never forget the first time I saw Porgie bleeding. She was about a month old, and John was cutting her fingernails. You can probably see where this is going... Her little finger tip was sliced open. To this day, I still refuse to let John cut her nails.

I hope little Oscar gets the hang of standing independently soon.

Yo Adrian! It's a thin line between giving your child the space needed to develop self-efficacy and being neglectful.

Well, the line probably isn't so thin, but I still have trouble with it sometimes. It's so hard to watch them figuring out how to manoeuver their little bodies!
