I don't see my name in the comments anywhere saying how very, very much I love this. So, if I have said it before, please forgive the repeat.
So beautiful.

It was the Girl of the Limberlost, followed by Anne of Green Gables that captivated me until I discovered Tolkein. It's PEI that still calls me. Beautiful.

What a beautiful, beautiful post.

It reminds me of a picture I have of my grandmother and her sister sitting on a fence, both in their late teens: my grandmother expressing everything I know, in a prim and proper dress, her hair perfectly curled, with a winsome smile. My great aunt, in pants, legs akimbo, hair braided with a piece of grass between her lips. She still sends dirty jokes to my grandmother via email, and somehow this photo to me explains everything.

I've only just found this post through Mad's recognition of it's perfection. Not sure how I missed it.

I'm speechless. This is so beautiful.
Anne of Green Gables holds such a special place in my childhood...when my own family was crumbling, when there was a palpable ache in my house...I would often steal away to my room and escape into Anne's found family and dream about the simplicity and importance of puffed sleeves.

Thank you for this, Bon.

So lovely.

I am way late to this. But I couldn't not tell you that my grandmother's birthday, my father's mother's though, also was June 20th. An ocean and some years apart.
